The top 30 youth champions(out of 1469) finally received the ‘Joy Bangla Youth Award’ from Mr. Sajeeb Wazed. Center for Research and Information, the secretariat of‘ Young Bangla’ organized this ceremony on 2nd May 2015 at the Krishibid Institution, Farmgate, Dhaka. The award ceremony did honor not only 30 but recognized the 2nd 30 as well as all the contenders by providing certificates.
The Joy Bangla youth award was presented in 5 categories to the following individuals and organizations:
Community Development: The awardees of Community Development are selected who are working and contributing in developing own community through their social work. Their activities are content with ranging from promoting urban gardening to providing education to the adults. Around 400 forms were submitted in this sector amongst which top 10 was recognized as awardees at the Joy Bangla Youth Award ceremony.
Social Inclusion and Empowerment: This category of awardees has proven the fact that the young people of Bangladesh are not silent anymore.
Their wonderful stories have made this award competitive and robust.
Maximum numbers of submissions were received from this category. During the award ceremony, top 10 was selected as awardees from more than 500 submissions. Their works on Hijra community to different segment of underprivileged people are included as well as they also work for women empowerment and social awareness issues.
Business Entrepreneurship: Aiming with bringing out the small entrepreneurs from the very rural areas, Young Bangla platform recognized total 4 awardees including women entrepreneurs who are not only empowering themselves as well as making a path for others. From boutique house to e-organic food service are in their concentration of entrepreneurship.
Research and Innovation: The most interesting projects were submitted in this category.
Total 3 innovators were awarded at the ceremony for their wonderful innovations which left a big contribution for the disable peoples.
Cultural Activities: Cultural contributors are considered who are working as organization and as individuals in cultural sector through their great write-ups and the activities on social awareness issues.
30 achievers overwhelmed to receive award from Sajeeb Wazed
Recognizing their works, Honorable ICT adviser to PM, Sajeeb Wazed Joy himself was on hand to honor all the awardees participating from 7 divisions along with 200 youths from grassroots.
Inspiring them he stated, “Joy Bangla is not only a slogan for Awami League but also for whole country and its people. We anticipate raising our country as middle income country by 2021 and confident to make it a developed country by 2041. Only youth can take it forward. I appreciate the youth- are not searching for a job today- rather creating job opportunity for themselves and for others. We need only to inspire them and to help them to way forward”
Along with him government representatives, MPs and corporate houses also enlightened the event by their presence and valuable regards towards awardees. These distinguished guests enclosed some opportunities and honors for the awardees by providing scope for involvement in development process of the country.
Amzad Hossain, Ex-President, Junior Chamber International (JCI) –Bangladesh, committed to nominate the youth from these selected awardees for Ten Young Outstanding Potentials (TYOP) award which is held in every year.
Syed Farhad Ahmed, AAMRA Smart Solutions, has announced 30 mobile phones to the 2nd 30 candidates.
Sonia Bashir, Managing Director of Microsoft Bangladesh, has declared that women entrepreneurs will be trained on computer in collaboration with Young Bangla. She also offered to the female winner as brand ambassador of their ‘Microsoft Windows Team’ and team member of “Windows Women”. Microsoft Bangladesh intends to provide free training, technological and financial support, and free Microsoft facilities for all in collaboration with Young Bangla.
Nizam Chowdhury, chairman of NRB Global Bank Limited, has committed, the Joy Bangla Youth awardees will be given financial support with very low interest and without any collateral fee. He also announced a sanction Taka 50,000 for Afzal Hossain, proprietor of Vai Vai store who is running a business with batting his disability.
“64 e-shops will be established in 64 districts of Bangladesh in which entrepreneurs of Young Bangla will be incorporated” said Sadequa Hassan Shejuti, Managing Director, FSB.
The whole event was graceful with the presence of the ministers and representatives of government institutions e.g. Zunaid Ahmed Palak (State Minister, ICT Division), Md. Shahriar Alam (State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Meher Afroz Chumki, State Minister, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs , Abul Kalam Azad (Principal Secretary, Government of Bangladesh), Nasima Begum (Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare), Gazi Nurul Kabir (Director General, Department of Social Services, Ministry of Social Welfare), Anwarul Karim (Director General, Department of Youth Development, Ministry of Youth And Sports), Aroma Dutta ( PRIP Trust), MA Arafat (Chairman, Suchinta Foundation).
