The Honorable Minister for Road Transport and Bridges of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Obaidul Quader, visited the offices of Centre for Research and Information (CRI) today. Mr. Quader was presented with the publications of CRI and he highly praised the quality of these publications and identified the need to positively brand Bangladesh in the international stage. After being appraised of the various research, networking and youth development activities of CRI, Mr. Quader expressed his interest to explore opportunities for his Ministry to get involved with CRI, especially as regards the Young Bangla platform.
In particular, he discussed how more youths, especially from science and technology backgrounds, can be involved with the various large scale infrastructural undertakings currently being implemented by his Ministry. He promised to look into the matter further and welcomed a team from CRI to visit the Ministry and its subordinate departments/agencies to discuss the involvement of Young Bangla in various ongoing and future projects. He also expressed his hope that CRI would undertake more original research into the needs and aspirations of the youth of Bangladesh. He also consented to participating in CRI’s signature youth focused programmes, Let’s Talk and Policy Cafe in the near future.
CRI Trustee and Honorable State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Mr. Nasrul Hamid was present during the meeting, as was CRI’s Executive Director Mr. Sabbir Bin Shams.
