Centre for Research and Information (CRI) and its youth platform – Young Bangla is now preparing for the ‘Joy Bangla Youth Awards’(JBYA) scheduled in October 2017. JBYA is an initiative to acknowledge the untold stories and contributions of young achievers and leaders of the nation. The call for JBYA application has been officially opened since May 14, 2017. The work preceding the awards is now in full swing with idea circles, workshops, meetings and promotion campaigns being carried out nationwide, while the selection process expected to begin soon after the application deadline on 31st July 2017.
YOUTH ENGAGEMNET

Centre for Research and Information (CRI) organized a Let’s Talk before the 136th Assembly of Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) scheduled to take place in Dhaka. Mr Saber Hossain Chowdhury MP (President, IPU) was present among other panellists consisting of Members of Parliament and youth representatives. The topic of this session of Let’s Talk was “Reducing Inequalities” where around 200 youth participants consisting of students and young professionals took part in this interactive discussion.

CRI made its presence at the 136th Assembly of the IPU providing a display of some selected publications for collection at the assembly venue and participating at launching ceremony of Saima Wazed Putul’s book ‘Unique Glimpses’. CRI also organised a presentation to the ‘Forum of Young Parliamentarians’ where the presenters were two youth representatives, who put forward the issues raised during the Let’s Talk during their segment on ‘Youth Recommendations on Reducing Inequalities’.

CRI was involved with Bangladesh Awami League in conducting a series of workshops on social media usage by Members of Bangladesh Parliament (MPs). The three-day workshop was held at the Party President’s Office at Dhanmondi, Dhaka. The workshop was inaugurated by the party’s General Secretary and Honorable Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader MP with the Honorable ICT Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister Sajeeb Wazed was present as the Chief Guest.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Centre for Research and Information (CRI) and Chinese IT firm IsoftStone earlier this year for the initiation of the E-Village project. On April 3, 2017, a demonstration session was held at BSMRAU campus where 15 farmers were given one device and one smartphone each by Mr Jahid Ahsan Russel, MP. This was following by three weeks of training farmers how to use the device.

A delegation from Bangladesh consisting of Centre for Research and Information (CRI) and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University(BSMRAU) representatives has recently attended an official visit to China. The purpose of the tour was to enhance the Bangladesh-China trade and cooperation in its agricultural sector and for presenting the results of the iSoftStone back E-village initiative. This also included the discussions of a possible extension of the project to a larger scale in its 2nd phase.

The 'Digital Bangladesh' approach, is the brainchild of Prime Minister Sheikh Haisna and her ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed, to utilize the usage of ICT (Information and Communication technology) as a tool for development and sustainability. This publication covers some of the key achievements over the last seven years that is transforming Bangladesh into a technologically advanced nation. The nation now witnesses a strong surge of growth in most of the development indices-spanning from the economy to human and social development.

This publication covers Bangladesh’s successes and continued development in the path of economic prosperity in the 2016-17 financial year including the investment prospects and its future as a potential connectivity hub in South Asia. The growth has been nurtured and sustained by adoption of newer technologies making Bangladesh one of the fastest emerging economies of the world. The publication was prepared targeting the Honorable Prime Minister’s visit to India in April 2017.
