CRI at The Conference on Youth Development in Bangladesh

A conference on Youth Development in Bangladesh marking the National Youth Day was held at Hotel Westin in the city on November 1, 2017.
The Ministry Youth and Sports organized the conference in association with the Commonwealth Secretariat and Centre for Research and Information (CRI). CRI’s vibrant presence was felt during all the sessions of the conference.

CRI played a key role in developing contents, mobilizing participants and resource persons for the conference. CRI also published a special booklet named Bangladesh: Youth Development which was launched during the conference.

Mr. AMA Muhith, Finance Minister was chief guest while Dr. Biren Sikder, State Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr. Nasrul Hamid MP, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Arif Khan Joy MP, Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, and M Zahid Ahsan Russel MP and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Youth and Sports were present as special guests at the inaugural session of the conference. The chief guest and other special guests delivered speech on the importance of a conference on youth development. During the inaugural session, The Commonwealth Secretariat members presented four key papers on different aspects of youth development from a regional point of view. A CG on CRI initiatives and achievements was presented during the inaugural session.

There were four parallel sessions that took place on four different theme. CRI’s senior analyst Barrister Shah Ali Farhad present key note paper in one of the session titled ‘Youth in Peace Building. CRI members were present in the sessions as rapporteurs. CRI members, associates and more than 50 Joy Bangla Youth awardees participated in the conference and shared important views and ideas regarding the challenges of youth development in Bangladesh.

CRI displayed some selected publications on progress and sectoral development achieved by Bangladesh and the success stories of youth-led initiatives at the conference venue. The conference participants and other visitors collected the publications, interacted with the CRI staff members and showed keen interest regarding CRI initiatives.
