On 11 October, 2015, the Honorable Planning Minister Mr. AHM Mustafa Kamal visited the offices of Centre for Research and Information (CRI). During the visit, a number of topics of mutual interest were discussed, including principally, how CRI can assist the Ministry of Planning and its associate and subordinate agencies in increasing the input of the youth in major planning decisions of the government. Mr. Kamal fondly shared his experiences as the top official of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and how his private sector and entrepreneurial background is helping him bring a new and innovative outlook to public service.
The Honorable Minister was given a presentation by CRI team detailing the organization’s activities and in particular on the youth centered initiative, Young Bangla. Discussions were held regarding CRI organizing a workshop jointly with the Planning Ministry to assess youth attitudes and opinions on the draft National Youth Policy. The Minister also responded positively to CRI/Young Bangla proposal for accommodating qualified young people as interns in the Ministry under the “Vision 2021 Internship Programme”. The suggestion also came from the Minister himself about organizing a daylong tour of the Planning Ministry by Young Bangla members for seeing firsthand how the government goes about the task of taking major decisions effecting the public under a “Shadow the Minister” type project between CRI and the Ministry.
