CRI hosted the second edition of its public art exhibition “The Fearless Call-II” on 17 March, 2023 to celebrate Bangladesh’s father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 103rd birth anniversary. CRI collaborated with eight young artists to visualize Bangabandhu’s “Homecoming” speech delivered on 10 January 1972 on rebuilding the war-ravaged country. In his address, Mujib inculcated the blueprint for a progressive country.
Nasrul Hamid MP, State Minister, Ministry of Power Energy and Mineral Resources and Trustee, CRI; Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP, State Minister, ICT Division; Waseqa Ayesha Khan MP were present at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. CRI also organized art festival for the school going children and distributed graphic novel series ‘Mujib’ among the children.
This year’s digital art exhibition The Fearless Call-II features artworks of eight spirited young artists. Artist Sayed Fida Hossain, Arafat Karim, Auntora Mehrukh Azad, Ananya Mehpar Azad, Shamim Ahmed Chowdhury, S M Rakibur Rahman, Mahatab Rashid, and Syed Nafis used immersive technology to visualize seven pivotal aspects of that historic speech.
Arafat focused on Mujib’s homecoming journey to independent Bangladesh and the emotional reunion with the long-awaiting people. Auntora’s illustration depicted the genocide history during the Liberation War, while Ananya portrayed the spirit of female freedom fighters. Fida’s illustration conceptualized Bangladesh’s sovereignty and Mujib’s idea of Bengali identity. Mahatab, Rakib, and Nafis portrayed Mujib’s principles of democracy, secularism, and socialism respectively. Shamim designed the layout of the exhibition and the zonal segregation, for the installations. The exhibition was curated by Emdadul Hoque.
The digital artworks are installed at the premises of Sheikh Russell Square, the residence of Mujib, Dhanmondi 32 and remained open for visitors till 27 March, 2023 from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
