The Fearless Call: March 7 speech of Bangabandhu reimagined through digital artwork

CRI’s youth platform Young Bangla commemorated the historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 17, 2022 through a digital artwork called “The Fearless Call.” A group of young artists collaborated on the project which reimagined the directives of Bangabandhu's historic March 7 speech in 1971. The artists explored what ignited a nation to fight for independence through the digital mural mashup. The installation was set up in front of Dhanmondi 32, residence of Bangabandhu. Reesham Shahab Tirtho, Saiyad Saif Ali, Sushmita Das Dewan, Ishrat Jahan Shaeera, Faiaz Rafid, Ahsana Angona, and Md. Mojjammil E Hamid are the dynamic artists behind “The Fearless Call.”

Last two installments of Mujib graphic novel unveiled

CRI unveiled the 9th and 10th episode of its flagship creative publication graphic novel “Mujib” on February 19, 2022 at Bangla Academy Amar Ekushey Book Fair. Eminent writer and educationist Dr. Mohammed Zafar Iqbal, writer and journalist Anisul Hoque, artist Syed Rashad Imam Tanmoy and creative editor of Mujib, Shibu Kumer Shill were present at the ceremony. The 9th episode, Mission Punjab highlights Mujib’s thrilling journey to Punjab where he met his political mentor Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy to form All-Pakistan Awami Muslim League. The 10th episode, Muktir Pothe covers how Mujib fought for the rights of the Bangalis in the then East Pakistan while he was framed and jailed for false allegation. The 10th episode concludes the graphic novel series. After the unveiling, the guests handed over complete sets of Mujib graphic novel to some children.

7th issue of policy magazine ‘WhiteBoard’ released

CRI published the 7th issue of its quarterly policy magazine ‘WhiteBoard’ in March 2022. Bangladesh is now focused in achieving three major milestones over the next two decades— LDC graduation, SDGs attainment and becoming a high-income economy. March issue covers diverse policy areas that needs tectonic shift to ensure the attainment of these milestones. The issue features Dipu Moni and Samia Huq on curricular interventions; Rejaul Karim Siddiquee on equal opportunity employment; Junayed Ahmed Chowdhury on a new transaction regime; Yun Xin Lua and Muhammad Shafiullah on the VAW–WASH linkage; Rumana Islam on Bangladesh’s external relations; and Sudipto Mukerjee, Robert Simpson, Tuomo Poutiainen and Subhra Bhattacharj on UN-Bangladesh relationship.

CRI-Young Bangla Annual Report 2021

CRI-Young Bangla Annual Report 2021 is a compilation of year-long endeavors by CRI and its youth platform, Young Bangla. In 2021, CRI released a special publication marking the 50 years of independence. Revisiting Joy Bangla Concert

CRI-Young Bangla has been organizing the Joy Bangla Concert on March 7 for six consecutive years since 2015, commemorating the spirit of historic speech of March 7, 1971 by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the concert did not take place in 2021 and 2022. However, Young Bangla commemorated the historic day and the concert through special programs on national television channels. Popular rock band Cryptic Fate, Shunno, Chirkutt and Introit revisited the concert and discussed how it connects the millions to the spirits of 7 March 1971.

Young Bangla to place a new batch of interns at the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources

Young Bangla is going to start third cohort of its flagship program Youth Employability Program (YEP). It is a three-month long internship program that provides hands-on experience to the fresh graduates on how a ministry or government agency operates. The next cohort of interns will be placed at the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Bangladesh. Fresh university graduates from Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering will get preference. Global Legal Hackathon 2022

CRI and its policy magazine WhiteBoard teamed up with The Legal Circle and Think Legal Bangladesh to organize the Global Legal Hackathon 2022. The Dhaka edition took place on 25-27 March 2022. The hackathon is a unique platform for students and professionals to digitize legal sector combining law, technology and business expertise. Teams with tech-based ideas, applications and systems can pitch their solution to this global platform. The winners of Dhaka edition will be going to Singapore for competing in the next stage with their international peers, with finals being in London.

WSPP campaigners organized media dialogue

Young Bangla launched the “Women’s Safety in Public Places (WSPP)” campaign in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bangladesh and Bangladesh National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in 2020. Ten Joy Bangla Youth Award winning organizations are implementing the campaign in their respective districts. The youth campaigners organized media dialogues in their districts as part of implementation strategy. They called for a positive change in the perceptions, attitudes and behaviors of young people, senior citizens and stakeholders involved in women's safety.

CRI at Amar Ekushey and Gulshan Society Book Fair and Folk Fair 2022

CRI participated at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2022, a month-long book fair hosted by Bangla Academy. This year the book fair took place on February 15-March 17, 2022. Along with renowned publishers and organizations, this year CRI participated at the Gulshan Society Book Fair held on 4-5 March, 2022. CRI also participated at Folk Fair 2022 hosted by Mujib Year Celebration Implementation Committee in Gopalganj district on 21-26 March 2022. Special screenings of Hasina: A Daughter's Tale

A special screening of CRI-produced docudrama ‘Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale’ was held on March 2, 2022 at Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre, Guwahati, Assam, India. The Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Assam, India hosted the special screening. The highly acclaimed docudrama was again screened on 15-17 March 2022 Bhasha Shahid Muktomoncho, Bangla Academy premises marking the 102nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
